Ramen Broth Too Salty

Your ramen broth is too salty because the tare was heavy. Dilute and balance with fat.

Part of soups cooking fixes and too salty food fixes .

overly salty broth harsh finish dairy-free

Ingredients on hand

  • ramen broth
  • unsalted stock
  • butter
  • scallions
  • egg

Why it happened

Ramen tare is concentrated. Dilution and fat reduce perceived salinity while keeping flavor.

The fix

Save
  1. 1 add 1/2 cup unsalted stock and taste
  2. 2 stir in a small pat of butter for balance
  3. 3 serve with an egg or noodles to dilute

If it's still wrong

  • serve with extra noodles and vegetables
  • use as a dipping broth instead of a full bowl

Prevent next time

  • start with less tare and adjust
  • use low-sodium stock

Notes

Why this works

A small amount of extra broth lowers the salt concentration. Fat and noodles spread the salt across more volume.

Substitutions

  • butter sesame oil
  • stock water
